RCSI family co-won the football tournament “The Governor’s Cup” ‘2011

Rotary Club Sofia International took part in the 3rd edition of the Annual Rotary Football Tournament “The Governor’s Cup” ‘2011 that took place in “Tzarsko Selo” (“King’s Village”) in the outskirts of Sofia on September 17, 2011 – the Day of Sofia. Almost 100 players, cheerleaders and audience were greeted by the Past-District-Governor, Mr. Plamen Minev and by Mr. Iliya Iliev, President 2011-2012 of Rotary Club Sofia Vitosha. The opening ceremony was conducted with the help of Mrs. Violeta Toncheva.

The tournament gathered many Rotarians and Rotaractors from all around the District. Prior to the beginning, a lot selected 6 teams formed out of all the players. Every team had 6 players + 1 goalkeeper. After having 2 groups formed from 3 teams each, every group qualified 2 teams to the semi-finals. In the Final match there were the teams of THE SWAP HOOKS (Palamarkite) and the team of HARDCORE AND LADIES (Hardkor i dami). The match started intense for THE SWAP HOOKS, by having to take the ball out of their net in the 4th minute. However, in the next almost 30 minutes, THE SWAP HOOKS managed to score 2 goals against HARDCORE AND LADIES and this was enough to win the title – CHAMPION FOR 2011 of the ROTARY ANNUAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT “The Governor’s Cup”. Rotaract member and current secretary, Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev participated on behalf of RACSI and RCSI. He managed to keep the net safe on most occasions by only letting 2 balls pass him for the whole tournament.
