District 2482 – Bulgaria hosted the Rotary International Zone 20B conference – the Coordinators’ Seminar of RC/RRFC/RPIC under the motto “Awareness, Motivation, Creativity” in Sofia, Bulgaria, February 14-16, 2014. The event gathered more than 150 Rotary affiliates and offered exclusive insight and discussions on most of the vital financial topics for the work of the international team. Rotary Club Sofia International had 4 delegates – Ms. Ani Hristova, Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev, Mr. Ilian Madjarov and Ms. Yanitza Sirakova (guest). The event was organized by a team compiled by representatives from most of the Sofia Rotary clubs. The event was sponsored by Si-Comercial 7 Ltd., Aya – Vkusna Yadka Ltd. nuts company, Rakia Bar Raketa, Saloon Mineral Water, Malkata Zvezda Winery, Multivisia – equipment rental company.

Today Rotary Club Sofia International had the opportunity to get more information on a new type of initiative – the Management Board – a constellation of top-level and senior specialists who work together as a management board of a company. The initiative is targeted to small and medium size companies which cannot afford to maintain a Management Board. The guest speaker introduced the main aspects and concepts behind the initiative. We also welcomed new guests and discussed the agenda for the next meetings and events.

Today Rotary Club Sofia International had the opportunity to get more information on the topic of Political Aspects of Cyber Security by Mr. Krum Garkov, Executive Director at The European Agency for Operational Management of Large-scale Information Systems. The guest speaker introduced the main aspects and concepts of this important 21st century topic of modern life. Also at the meeting we welcomed new guests and had the opportunity to decide the agenda for the next meetings and events.

Rotary Club Sofia International (RCSI) is hosting its traditional wine night – the 2014 Roses Wine & Dine Night, a charity event which aims to raise funds for the noble causes the club is engaged in. The event is going to take place at Silhouette Hall (19 floor of Kempinski Hotel in Sofia city on Friday, February 21, 2014 starting at 7:00 PM (19:00 h.)

The organizers have prepared a special program including a presentation of all the available wines (40+ types). A salty touch will be offered by the different types of cheese and meat that Madjarov company will be supplying, as well as by the expensive nuts from AYA company. The sweet part of the evening is provided by Si Commercial 7 and 1 Meter Chocolate products. Water is provided by the boutique water company SALOON (SALOON-American Pub). The atmosphere shall be “decorated” with multimedia presentations of the wine as an important socio-cultural element of the contemporary society with multimedia provided by Multivisia. The event will also host an auction on artefacts that are related to the wine culture. A charity lottery will allow those who wish to test their own luck. Professional photographer from Graphya will be in charge of making this night a remembered one.

At the meeting today, Rotary Club Sofia International had the pleasure to host a presentation on Brazil as a country and on the life of the streets kids in Brazil, by our newest member Mr. Andreas Kraus. He has lived and worked in the latin American country and during his time there he has been helping with the inclusion back to society of marginalized children. He also produced a movie about the problems or the Brazilian children in order to raise awareness of the problems that persist in one of the biggest world economies.

Today, Rotary Club Sofia International, led by its mission to help and support the ones in need and organized by the friends from the youth program of our club – the Preliminary-Rotaract Club of Sofia International at the Medical Academy of Sofia donated food, medicine and toys to the main refugee accommodation center in Sofia. The initiative was organized by the young members of a Preliminary-Rotaract club who will soon be officially chartered as a Rotaract club. They collected money amongst themselves and were additionally supported financially by RC Sofia International in order to accomplish this initiative. The donation was under the special supervision and supported by the Chairman of the State Agency for Refugees at the Ministerial Council of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Chirpanliev.

Today Rotary Club Sofia International’s members had the honor to accept three new members to the club – Mr. Alex Stroila (RO), Mr. Marco De Santis (ITA) and Mr. Plamen Kertev (BUL).
After the official ceremony members and guests had a delightful tasting experience of the wines of Angelus Estate.
