(Oct 28) RC Sofia International Hosted a Presentation by Prof. Randall Baker (+GAL)
On 28 October 2015, Prof. Randall Baker was a guest presenter at a regular meeting of Rotary Club Sofia International. He talked about his life and activities as an academic, educator, world traveler, writer, and publisher. Prof. Baker invited the Club’s members to the launch of his new book “Cold War in a Hot Place”, co-written with a former Soviet military officer. The book tells of their often bizarre experiences on the opposite sides of the Mahogany Curtain in Africa during the 60’s and 70’s. He is an author of more than 20 books and 100 articles. Prof. Baker was involved in the creation of the New Bulgarian University, he has lived in Bulgaria since 2008, and wrote several books about Bulgaria – “Bulgariana” (2007), “To Sofia and Back” (2003), and a few more to be published, recounting his time in Bulgaria with many humorous and positive feelings about Bulgarians and the country. When people asked him “Why did you come to live in Bulgaria?” he usually replied, “Because my friends are here.” More about Prof. Baker here – http://www.randallbaker.org/en/.
We also had the pleasure to welcome Mr. Rene Kist, a Rotarian form RC Barendrecht in the Netherlands. The meeting continued with administrative part and was followed by fellowship.
