(9 Oct) Rotary Club Sofia International’s Sofia Owls Prepare for Their First Training Session (+GAL)
Rotary Club Sofia International held its regular meeting in Hilton Sofia on 9 October 2019. The meeting started with internal affairs including presentation of the board members and club’s committees for 2019/2020 Rotarian year. Progress update on Sofia Owls was then presented by Mr. Enrico Repouz. He informed the present that the first training session of our paralympic sitting volleyball team will be on Friday 18 October 2019 in the University of Mining and Geology. Afterwards the project for donation of used school furniture (tables and chairs) from Asbach, Germany was discussed. Number of products, sizes and measures are already known (1 full truck). Measures were checked if they fulfill the local school requirements and were confirmed to do. The furniture is suitable for elementary schools only. Currently looking for sponsors for the transportation estimated at around 2500 EUR.
Later our dear member Mr. Peter Simon informed all in attendance about the traditionally organized Oktoberfest in his home for family and friends. This year he requested his guests instead of flowers, sweets or wine as presents he would welcome financial contributions for Rotary Club Sofia International’s main project – Sofia Owls. The amount of 1,220 BGN was collected. Mr. Enrico Repouz, as founder and president of Sofia Owls, expressed his gratitude and informed all that the proceedings will be used for buying balls, net and other equipment for the paralympic team.
The organization of the club’s 15th Anniversary in the beginning of 2020 was the next topic on the agenda. The celebration will be combined with the traditional whisky tasting evening organized by Rotary Club Sofia International. More details to follow soon here and on our Facebook page.
After the official part the fellowship continued in the lobby bar of the hotel.
