(20 Feb) Mr. Veselin Dimitrov – District Governor of District 2482 Visits Rotary Club Sofia International (+GAL)

20 February 2019 was a remarkable date for our club life. On our regular meeting we were visited by the District and Assistant District Governornors of Rotary, District 2482 – Mr. Veselin Dimitrov and Mr. Konstantin Yanakiev.

Before the meeting, our guests wanted to meet with the boards of Rotary Club Sofia International, Rotaract Club Sofia International and Interact Club Sofia International at Meridian 22 School.

The meeting was witnessed by many honored guests like Mr. Arif Söylem and his wife Mrs. Akai Sölem (RC Goztepe – Izmir), Ms. Yoanna Yordanova, Mr. Brandur Hauksson, Ms. Dessy Tian, Ms. Marina Staykova (Interact), Mr. Nikolai Kolev (Interact), Mr. Philippo Balbi (Rotaract).

We had a minute of silence in respect of the husband of our member, who passed away days before. Rotary Club Sofia International gives sincere condolences to Mrs. Elena Vassileva and her family.

Mr. Repouz presented briefly our club, our members, our activities and how special we are. After that the floor was given to Mr. Dimitrov, who explained about our District, his goals for the year, and about the future of Rotary in Bulgaria.

He also presented the RI President-Elect Mr. Barry Rassin’s theme for 2018-19, Be the Inspiration. The presentation was followed by flag exchange and pin ceremony. All board members received a pin by the Governor with the theme logo on it.

Big thank you to Mrs. Hristina Malchevska for patiently interpreting the Governor’s presentation.

Along with the eminent visit our president Enrico had the pleasure to announce the good news that our Past President – Ms. Ani Hristova – was officially elected as Chair of the Subcommittee for Donations and Recognitions of District 2482 on a training seminar in Arbanasi (Veliko Tarnovo) and not only that, Ani was awarded with the coveted pin,\ by our President Mr. Repouz, one of the most rare in Rotary – “100% Attendance” for being 559 days uninterruptedly present at our meetings from 1 July 2017 until 20 February 2019, what better time to do so than in official presence of our District Governor. Congratulations, Ani.

Ms. Hristova thanked for the honor to have the “100% Attendance” pin and for the great surprise. She briefly explained about the training seminar in Arbanasi. She also presented her team: Ms. Veronika Botsova from Rotaract Club Sofia-Vitosha, Mr. Michail Sougarev from our club and Mr. Galin Karagyozov from Rotary Club Harmanli.

Two more presentations followed by the representatives of Rotaract Club Sofia International – Mr. Philippo Balbi and of Interact Club Sofia International at Merdian 22 School – Ms. Marina Staykova and Mr. Nikolai Kolev.

The meeting was rounded off with a collective photo. And after the meeting the fellowship continued in the lobby bar of the hotel.
