The Christening of the Rehabilitation Center for Children with Oncohematologic Diseases took place on a sunny Sunday, 16 October 2022. Ms. Ani Hristova, Past President, Mr. Rumen Rusinov, President and Mr. Grant Dale, President Elect attended the event.

The rehabilitation center received the name “St. Stylian” –  patron Saint of children. The center started working in September 2020.  Our club in collaboration with other organizations donated a van to the Association “Children with Oncohаematologic Diseases”, who are the organization running the center.

The center is used by children in remission and their families. They receive psychological help aided by art therapy, sports activities and other recreational undertakings. The center also works with parents who lost their children in the battle with cancer, who find salvation and understanding and are given strength to continue with their lives.

We had the privilege of meeting the founder of the center Mr. Plamen Belchev, who through his own family challenge, decided to create this unique for Bulgaria place, inspired by similar centers in Italy, Ireland, and Germany. What was evident to us, is his drive and dedication, and his unwillingness to allow obstacles to get in his way of achieving his goal, namely, to help families to recover with their loved ones after a harrowing ordeal.
