Rotary Club Sofia International Organized a Charity Austrian Evening
Rotary Club Sofia International organized one of the biggest charity events in District 2482 – Austrian Evening which aimed to raise funds for 2 initiatives – PASTRA social home and SOS Children’s Village.
Pastra is a home for 80 mentally disturbed persons, in the village of Pastra, in Southern Bulgaria. SOS Children’s Village is located in the Pernik municipality, close to Sofia. The home in Pastra was recently somewhat improved by the Austrian Concordia Foundation with an investment of EUR 90.000 but much can still be done. A further EUR 30.000 must be found to install showers, renovate the sleeping area and replace old doors. SOS Kinderdorf will use the funds for the renovation of a home hosting 6 children.
The Military Club in Sofia city, located at 7 Tzar Osvoboditel Boulevard turned out to be a small place for all the people who supported the event which provided them with Austrian food, drinks and music on May 28th 2010. The whole initiative was supported by generous sponsors – EVN Bulgaria, Mobiltel, Arte Hotel, Ardex, Alpine, Niki. Lagermax, Porsche Leasing, Berndorf, SW Umwelttechnik, TPA Horwath, Lucky Bansko, Target Future, Backaldrin, Pernod Ricard and many individual sponsors. The entertainment for the cocktail was provided by the Austrian folk music ensemble “Irrsdorfer Tanzlmusic” from Salzburg.
The event was under the special patronage of H.E. Gerhard Reiweger – Ambassador of Austria to Bulgaria.
The Austrian Evening gathered the political elite and people connected with Austria from Bulgaria and Austrian citizens residing in Bulgaria.
