(Jul 3) RC Sofia International Kicks-off New Rotary Year with Various Projects (+GAL)
Rotary Club Sofia International today had its first meeting for the new Rotary year 2013-2014. Prior to it a Board meeting was conducted by the new president Mr. Michail Sougarev in order to distribute the responsibilities in the club among the members. Also a provisional agenda for the events for the first half of Rotary year 2013-2014 was drafted and will be finalized and published next week. Apart from the traditional already events organized by the club, there will be some initiatives – a project called “Rotary International Food Day” scheduled for October 19 and a Bulgarian Traditional Day/Evening which is planned for second half of the Rotarian year.
The initiatives that will be supported by the club were also agreed upon. We will continue the partnership with For Our Children Foundation, Tulip Foundation, Eyes on Four Paws Foundation. Additionally the club will be partnering for projects with Foundation Angels and will be supporting the Rotary District 2482 project in the Institute for Plant Physiology and Genetics (Annual Prize for Science).
The Committee chairmen were announced with the 5th Avenue Committee comprising of 5 people coordinating the relations and work with the 5 programs – the 2 Rotaract clubs, the 2 Interact clubs and the International youth exchange program. The Membership Committee will be chaired by Hans Promberger with Plamen Lazarov and Michail Sougarev as members of the committee. The Rotary Foundation Committee will comprise of Dimiter Mandradjiev and Stamen Tassev. The Community Service Committee will be chaired by Ilian Madjarov with the help of Jörg Schenk. As for the International Relations Committee, the entire club will be responsible as we are an International club and many of our members travel abroad and meet with fellow Rotarians in the countries they visit.
RC Sofia International will also be chartering a new RAC on Sept 27 in Sofia. Additionally a new youth exchange program will be developed by the club.
